hallen

\\
music studio built for experimenting and collaborating with other humans. The 200 m² space includes a studio and a live room, allowing for various types of recording as well as content production. An abundance of vintage and analog gear is a love letter to the recording studios of the ’60s and ’70s that have been a great inspiration to us. The space welcomes you to follow your intuition, with no instrument, drum machine, or tape machine being too far out of reach.

We love vintage instruments, tape machines, and live sound. So, primarily, the gear is curated to support live, organic recording sessions. Before every recording session, a pre-call takes place to discuss the setup and make sure the space is prepared for a seamless session that doesn’t break the flow (don’t go crazy, we do suggest taking breaks occasionally).

Please see our gear list above for a complete and up-to-date technical lineup. If anything’s missing or questions arise, do ask.

    About us

The parents of hallen, Mikael and Edite, are also parents in real life. In 2024, we settled for a calmer, small-town life in western Latvia, somewhere in between our original hometowns.

Mikael took his first steps in music production as a childhood bedroom producer in rural Sweden. Later, he studied songwriting and music business in Stockholm, and since then, the spider’s web of sound work has only spread. Analog gear, live recordings, mixing, recording jam sessions, video production, podcasts, beats, gigs - you name it, he’s tried it. See Mikael’s portfolio below.

Edite’s background is in project management across various digital and design agencies in Sweden and Latvia. However, music business,  podcast industry, and live music have been constant companions throughout her life, and they can now all happily coexist within the hallen venture.

Lester, the field spaniel, is hallen’s lead mood manager and, without a doubt, the most valued member of the hallen team.
